Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator Kim Carr announced the appointment of UniSAs Professor Andrew Parfitt to the newly formed Space Industry Innovation Council (Space IIC). The foundation of the new Space IIC will help to foster the development of the space science and industry sector. Its role is to support Australian innovation which will counter problems associated with climate change and national security and improve natural resource management, forestry and agriculture, and disaster management.

BU Students scoop top prize Hospitality industry conference
Three winning BU hospitality students were at the Hilton on Park Lane attending the Master Innholders conference on Monday to collect their competition trophy. The students stepped on stage in front of over 300 top industry professionals to do a short presentation and collect their award for making the winning video which addressed 'Maintaining Sustainable Competitive Advantage' in the hospitality industry.

[anchor] Uni-materials unify components or materials and consist of existing products combined into a single entity. Because these uni-materials contain less harmful substances and can be recycled, they are gaining much traction in the industry. Let's take a look. [report] We need many different types of of aluminium to manufacture vehicles. But a domestic research institute developed a uni-aluminium, which can replace these various types of aluminium with one single material. As a result, it allows for making vehicles with one type of aluminium, significantly reducing the manufacturing process and increasing recycling. If these kinds of uni-materials were to become commercially available, the impact is expected to be immense, especially in South Korea which does not have a sufficient supply of raw materials.
